To make this you will need:
1. a metal frame, you can get them from spotlight.
2. craft glue.
3. balsa wood.
4. wood stain.
5. rub on transfers
6. clear varnish
7. badge pin.
trim balsa to fit inside metal frame. You can do this by pressing the frame face down into the balsa wood, as balsa is a soft wood it will leave an imprint that you can cut around.
Use sand paper to round the edges on one side.
Stain balsa as dark as you want it an leave to dry.
Apply rub on transfer to balsa, I had to use tweezers to gently remove the transfer from the backing paper and stick it to the stained balsa.
Apply varnish, spray varnish works best as it doesn't disturb the transfer. Allow to dry.
Use craft glue to stick the balsa to the metal frame, finally glue pin to the back of frame.
I hope to have another tutorial up for you tomorrow but I have exams on at the moment so I'll see how I go.
